Shhh!

Scripture: “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent” Exodus 14:14 I am sure that many can relate to wanting to give someone a piece of your mind. When you have rehearsed what you will say but never seem to express your thoughts. Perhaps, you have typed a long email or text message, only to delete the content. I believe that in those moments when silence wins, the Holy Spirit is letting us know that the battle is not ours but it belongs to the Lord.

There are times when people will do you wrong. Maybe you are expecting something from them and instead you are only disappointed. Many times, disappointment leads to anger, hurt, sadness, or just misunderstanding. There is no need to respond to every situation because every action doesn’t require a response. I am reminded that the fight is not for me, I just need to be silent.

I encourage you to let the Lord fight for you. Stop allowing people and things to have power over your peace. Be quiet, be silent, and be still. Deuteronomy says, “For the Lord your God is he who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory”. Just wait on the Lord, seek His face, He has your back. So, the next time you feel like responding to a disappointment, accusation, or toxicity- just remember to find peace in, “shhh!” You only have to be silent.

Prayer: God we love you. We worship and adore you. Thank your for loving us and fighting for us. Thank you for the Holy Spirit that nudges us to silence. Thank you for peace and protection. Thank you for fresh wind. Forgive us for anger and wrath, forgive us when we fail to love as you desire us to do. In Jesus Name.
