Grieving during the holidays
I know for some it has been a tough year. But I’m so proud of you because you’re making it through some of the hardest moments of your life. You are stronger than you thought. Keep trusting God in ALL things and He will continue to get you through. Stand on His word. The holidays can often bring about emotions and feelings that you thought were in the past. For instance, grieving the death of a loved one. Well, my friend, know that I’m praying for you and I know that God is so intentional. He’s intentional about the matters of your heart and concerned about you. Stand on His word and remember the following this holiday season as you grieve: 1. Isaiah 26:3 - "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you 2. Philippians 4:7 - "And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." 3. Psalm 139:16 - "Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be." 4. Matthew 10:29-31 - "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." 5. 1 Peter 5:7 - "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." 6. Psalm 56:8 - "You have taken account of my miseries; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?" 7. Psalm 18:2 - "The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." 8. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 - "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." God knows what we feel every minute of the day. He’s the one who created us with those emotions. And when we hurt, we should expect God to comfort us. And when He does, we should use our experiences to help others. No one should have to feel alone. If you are hurting right now, know that God will never leave you. He’s always with you. Prayer: Father God, Lord, you know everyone who is hurting right now. God, I thank you for giving us comfort when we hurt. Help us remember that we don’t have to grieve alone. Help us to call on You when we feel depressed and grieving our loved ones. God, show us how to take refuge in You when we are broken and lost. I pray for every individual reading this right now. Comfort, heal, and give them peace. In Jesus name, Amen.
