Just Press
Scripture: Philippians 3:12-14 “Not that I have already attained or have already been perfected, but I follow after it so that I may lay hold of that for which I was seized by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not count myself to have attained, but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
There are so many people that think that they have to be perfect before gaining a relationship with Christ. Many people look for others to fix them. The truth of the matter is, we all should be pressing toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Our goal should not be to please other humans. None of us are perfect.
If your excuse for not having a relationship with Christ is because you are waiting to “get it together”, then you can no longer use that excuse. Christ wants to help you, and carry your burdens. We are nothing without Him. Go to Him, all who are weary and burdened and He will give you rest. You feel weak? He will give you strength. Do you feel sad? He will give you joy. You need Him in order to “Get it together”, so stop making that excuse. Forget about those things that are behind you. You no longer reside in that place of past. I challenge you to just press. You can no longer afford to trip over your past. Let it go and just press. Press toward the goal to the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. He is the standard. No one compares to Him. If you can commit to the world, surely you can dedicate your life to Christ, you matter and your life literally depends on it.
Father God, we thank you for Jesus. We are grateful that you love us in spite of us. Please move us out of your way so that you can have your way in us. We are nothing without you. Allow the person reading this prayer to boldly trust you to be the lifter of their heads and Lord of their lives. May they commit and submit to you. I pray that salvation and rededication be their decision if they do not know you for themselves. In Jesus Name. Amen.
