Treat People Right

Scripture: Proverbs 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.

Have you ever expected encouragement from someone and yet you were left disappointed? Or have you been surprised at the lack of consistency from someone who you thought would be there for you?

Between gossip, lies, life, and enemies disguised as friends, it may seem hard to distinguish between who is there for you and who is against you. Life is more than enough on most days. No one should have to deal with needing encouragement from those who don’t have their best interest at heart.

But I want to encourage you to hold on to God’s unchanging hand. He is a friend to the friendless. God will never leave you and He will never forsake you. No weapon formed will ever prosper when God is protecting you. The truth of the matter is we are supposed to make one another better. That happens when we show genuine concern for others, build genuine relationships, speak positivity and possibility, provide clear expectations, lend a helping hand, and be intentional. So, if you can’t build a person up, don’t tear them down. As iron sharpers iron, so a friend sharpens a friend. Respect yourself enough to walk away from anyone or anything that does not add peace, happiness, and growth to your life. If it is no longer serving you, then let it go, let them go. Treat people right and help someone else to be better.

Prayer: Father God, please forgive us for not loving your people as you love us. Help us to be more intentional and positive. Help us to do things that are pleasing in your sight. Father God, we will want to represent Christ, give your name the honor, praise, and glory. In Jesus Name, Amen.
